La Floridita Limited Edition
Wrapper: Brazilian Mata Fina
Binder: Indonesian
Filler: Nicaraguan and Mexican longfillers
Even though I knew that Gary Korb was sending us some of these to review I went ahead and ordered a 5er on my own so I could try them sooner for myself. This cigar has a beautiful oily sheen a perfect draw and an even burn. The taste was like that of tobacco. I couldn't detect anything else really. My taste buds may be about burnt out from all the full bodied full flavored cigars I've been smoking maybe. I hope my other brother's of the leaf can add something more but for the life of me I can't taste anything but tobacco.
I'll give it a 7 on the tac-o-mater because of the burn, draw and look.
Here we go, I was gifted some of these to sample from tacHammer by way of Gary at Famous, so here we go. The construction was great the mata fina wrapper was very pretty, the pre-light was nice, the draw was very easy almost too easy, it took a lot to take in a lot of smoke, almost to effortless on the draw. Now for the lite. It lit easy, burned straight as an arrow smelled good but here is the down side, it wasn't as full bodied to me as the regular line of La Flordita which I may add is a regular of mine in the pancho size maduro. This smoke was kind of a let down as like I said I was expecting something more full in flavor and body. The cigar was pleasant and very one sided to me. It was consistent in taste all the way through. No surprises at all. The strength never got any stronger. Would I buy these for my self? I probably wouldn't but I would reccomend them to a begining smoker who was looking to move up in fullness. This would be a good cigar to do that with. It has good flavor and it isn't over powering for a beginning smoker. I think it would be a pleasent step up for them and give them something to look forward to later.
ReplyDeleteSorry Gary, it just wasn't as strong as I expected it to be from the pre-release advertising, but it certainly isn't a loser just not what I was expecting in a premium smoke of this caliber. I expected it to have more complexity than the regular lines of La Flordita, and I expected it to be more full bodied, but like I said it is a good place for the new smoker to move up in his search for more complexness in his smoking adventure.
Hey Guys,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the props and honest opinions on the La Floridita LE cigars. For the record, we list the cigar as "medium to full," but you have to take into account that we go for the "average" palate (if there is such a thing). I gather you were expecting more potent smoke, but as they say, "c'est la vie."
Happy smokes!
Gary (Famous Smoke Shop)
The reviews already written by Tac and Road pretty much say it all. It was a good smoke but lacked complexity. Very straight forward, well constructed. I enjoyed both examples but I look for more in a cigar at this price.
