Country of Origin: Honduras
Size & Shape: 6.25 x 45 Parejo
Wrapper: African Cameroon
Filler: Hon/Nic/Dom
Binder: USA-Connecticut Broadleaf
medium bodied/medium strength
I don't know if there is any smoke that I enjoy more than a well made, well blended cameroon wrapped cigar. It has been quite a while since my last one so I was excited when these cigars arrived. The draw and burn were impeccable. The flavor was that wonderful cameroon profile of sweet mellow complexity that has made the wrapper so highly sought after. The wrapper, binder and filler all marry into a slightly spicy cigar with a long finish with a touch of cedar and sweetness. Smooth and complex but with enough backbone to enjoy after a good meal.

I have to 10-4 that Fletchman; I have to agree that these are great smokes, I find them to be very satisfying without being overwhelming: there is something about a Villazon smoke, and then you take a great cigar with a choice Connecticut binder, and again a core of chioce Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers toped-off with a beuatiful Cameroon wrapper, and you quite literally have a wonderful "twist" on that typically Villazon flavor.

Wild Turkey - I agree - Villazon makes some of the most consistant, well made cigars out there. I have smoked the 1066 line for years but usually I get the "Merlin" as it is a robusto shape and after sampling a few it had the best of what I liked. However, it seems the longer I smoke cigars the more I have begun to like the ring gauges in the 44-45 range. They seem to concentrate the flavor a bit more and the wrapper/filler& binder ratio gives more of the wrapper's profile. I think the next box of excal 1066 will be the "King Arthur".
I too have for a long time now favored the thinner ring-gauge cigars, I especially like Cuban and small coronas, Lonsdales etc.
The best of the Hoyo Dark Sumatra Ebano and the Bolivar Lonsdale (2005) blend IMO are the best of the bunch at a svelte 45 ring gauge.
I agree about the proportions being just-right to showcase a blend, and let the smoker taste the wrapper binder and fillers in perfect harmony, as do many cigar makers.
I still love a JR Ultimate #1 Oscuro (7.25x54) , and Punch Rothschilds (Oscuro).
El Credito's products (LGC & ERH) stay pretty consistent straight across the board, Ernesto Perez Carrillo has some magic touch to keep the taste pretty much the same throughout all of the sizes.

Ernie is one of the best. El Ricos are my favorite smoke and they are always consistant, LGC Serie R smokes are hard to beat but think a small ring in that blend would benefit depth of flavor,
